At the end of 2011, December, Trees4Trees performs activities in Central Java and East Java. The activities consist of:

• Trees4Trees participation in social event, together with SMKN 1 Kalibagor, entitled 'SMK   Care' in Banyumas (17-18 December 2011)
• Continued activity of research on supply and demand of national timber in East Java, (20-23 December 2011)
• Coordination of 2011 Planting Period (24-29 December 2011)

Two activities were completed in November 2011: Research on Supply and Demand of National Timber and Seedling Monitoring for 2011 Planting Period

1. Research on Supply and Demand of National Timber. Trees4Trees cooperated with Forestry Research and Development Agency of Ministry of Forestry of Republic of Indonesia to conduct Research on Supply and Demand of National Timber

2. Seedling Monitoring for 2011 Planting Period. The monitoring was performed by checking the condition and quantity of seedlings. The objective was to identify the development of seedlings in the nursery and calculating the total number of seedling.

There are two main activities performed on October 2011: Tree Audit in Pati Management Unit and Trees4Trees Participation in the Workshop on Establishing Social Dimension Analysis Method (part of Community Based Commercial Forestry Research).
1. Tree Audit in Pati Management Unit
On October 2011, Trees4Trees held tree audit for 2008/2009 planting period. The audit was delivered by Trees4Trees auditors: Sri Widodo and Tangguh Agustian Wijaya. Objective of the audit:
a. Identifying tree condition planted in 2008 and 2009
b. Identifying challenges during planting

Trees4Trees agreed to implement a collaborative research with Division of Research and Development of Ministry of Forestry. Objective of the research was to identify precise number of wood needed by national industry. While Trees4Trees focused the research in the requirement of wood for industry in Java Island.

Social Impact Assessment (SIA) consists of several steps, started with social indicator, secondly, data collection, then analysis, continued with social mapping and finally ended with monitoring. It is expected that community where the program/activity delivered will get maximum positive impact and minimum negative impact in social aspect. Same as SIA, Environmental Impact Assessment implemented as an effort to maximize positive impact and minimize negative impact of a program/activity to a community and its surrounding environment.
 

Production activity went from January to September 2011. The product acquired mostly Sengon, Mahogany and Teak. The harvesting process was supervised by Trees4Trees or/with local coordinator. Considering the extensive location, more time was required. This time described the continuous process after the timber cut and observation by Trees4Trees.
 

During this period, Trees4Trees™ performed Social and Environmental Impact Assessment. The objective of environmental assessment was to identify positive and negative impact that have resulted from program activity towards surrounding environment.

Result of the assessment is Environmental Impact Assessment, Social Impact Assessment and High Conservation Value Report.

ACIAR cooperated with Trees4Trees to conduct research entitled 'Overcoming Constraints to Community Based Commercial Forestry in Indonesia.' In the cooperation, ACIAR will make use Pati Management Unit as one of research locations until December 2014, together with other locations developed by other parties, such Gunung Kidul, Bulukumba, Konawe and Sumbawa. The objective of the research:
Analyzing social dimension of Community-based Commercial Forestry (CBCF) and design a framework for assessing its benefit for community who joined the program;

Eastern and Western Region Meeting
On May 2011, Trees4Trees organized Eastern and Western Region Meeting. Topic of the meeting was internal consolidation among Field Coordinators, review of planting activity and its challenge until 2010 and progress of Trees4Trees activity, especially production, also plan to carry out research with other parties.
The meetings were organized consecutively, started with Eastern Region Meeting on May 3rd to May 4th 2011 in Semarang, continued with Western Region Meeting on May 11th to May 12th 2011 in Baturraden, Banyumas District.
 

Community forestry was introduced to villagers in Klumpit village, Pati district, and in Kalikidang, Banyumas district. A Forestry Management Unit , the basic management unit of a certified forest, was established in Klumpit.
